Gliding can mean many different things. For some, it is the ultimate adventure sport where you fly races and compete at national or international level. For others, it is a challenge to first become a pilot and then learn to harness the forces of nature to stay aloft, either locally around their home field, flying long cross-country flights or getting the most out of their own abilities.

Gliding is also about being part of a community of like-minded people with the same interest. For many, the community is an important part of the sport. At the same time, the seclusion of a glider and the high level of concentration where you are completely absorbed in the task and everything else earthly disappears can be appealing to many.

Regardless of your level of ambition, the starting point is to take an introductory flight and become a member of a gliding club.
